Blackburn boss Allardyce hails Salgado impact

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce admits Michel Salgado has been a revelation since his arrival from Real Madrid.

The Spanish fullback has already revealed he expects Rovers to be his final 'mainstream club' and is determined to bow out in style with one more season left on his deal in England.

Allardyce told the Lancashire Telegraph: "He is out there leading by example for us.

"Our young lads are playing well for us but Michel is doing more than his bit and his experience and talent has proved invaluable.

"He has come to terms with what it takes to play in the Premier League and, since December, has been outstanding for us.

"There is not a fitter lad about, that is what I like about him.

"A 33-year-old who has played game in and game out, two or three games a week, and he is there, he is ready to go and has been great in the back half of this season."
