Eric Black is an early favourite to succeed Steve Bruce should the Wigan Athletic manager move to Sunderland.
The Mirror says if Bruce goes Wigan's No.2 Black is keen to step up. Latics owner Dave Whelan is also an admirer of Swansea's Spanish boss Robert Martinez, who was brought to England as a player by Whelan.
