Birmingham City attacker Gary McSheffrey has revealed he could have been an Everton player.

McSheffrey takes on Everton on Saturday, revealing that he might have been lining up for David Moyes's men had things worked out differently as a teenager.

"Not many people know that I had the chance to sign for Everton when I was about 14," he told the Sunday Mercury. "I just went up there for a few games, did well and they offered me schoolboy forms.

"But I decided to stay at Coventry because they were offering me an apprenticeship and the promise of signing a professional deal when I was 17, so I've no regrets."
