Birmingham willing to upgrade Jerome deal to ward off Stoke

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is ready to open new contract talks with Cameron Jerome.

Brum plan to upgrade the striker's contract to keep him away from Stoke City, says the Mirror.

Jerome, 24, penned a new five-year deal at St Andrews in July 2009 before Carson Yeung's takeover.

And the forward, who hit 10 goals last season, is now one of the club's lowest paid first-team regulars.

Jerome wants City to give him fresh terms to put him on around £30,000-a-week like most of Blues' stars.
