Lee Bowyer believes Birmingham City staying up would be better than winning the Carling Cup.
Alex McLeish's side face Fulham this afternoon needing at least one point to be certain of a third consecutive season in the top flight. And veteran midfielder Bowyer admits the club have paid a heavy price for winning the first major trophy in their history.
The 34-year-old said: "I wouldn't change it for anything because it was the first medal I've won in my career and it was a fantastic experience from a personal point of view.
"But from the club's prospective, survival in the top flight is far more significant and staying up, if we do it, will be a bigger achievement given the size of our squad. I said both last season and at the start of this one that we over-achieved last year. We surprised people.
"It was always going to be a hard campaign this time and our main aim was to stay in this League. Hopefully, once we've finished against Fulham it will have been done."
