Birmingham owner denied permission to travel to Britain

Birmingham City owner Carson Yeung's proposed visit to Britain has been cancelled by the High Court of Hong Kong. Yeung has been charged with money laundering in Hong Kong and had been given permission by the district court last month to leave the country.

The tycoon had planned to travel to Britain for four days from Thursday, intending to visit St Andrew's and take in the Europa League clash against Braga.

"The prosecution appealed on the ground that there was a risk that he might not come back," Yeung's lawyer Clive Grossman said. "I haven't spoken to him but I would imagine he is disappointed."

The 51-year-old faces five counts of 'dealing with property known or believed to represent proceeds of an indictable offence'.
