Birmingham City are weighing up making a swap offer for Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd.
Bothroyd is off contract in June, but Birmingham want to buy him in the coming days.
The Express & Star says Birmingham could use veteran striker Kevin Phillips as bait in a £2.2million move for Bothroyd.
Phillips admitted last week he had been told by manager Alex McLeish he could leave St Andrew's.
