Birmingham City are launching a £2 million bid for Aston Villa defender Gary Cahill.
Blues boss Alex McLeish urgently needs a centre-half and will go for Cahill, who has been on loan at Sheffield United since the start of the season after slipping down the pecking order at Villa Park.
