Newcastle United fullback Danny Simpson is attracting rival interest.
The Sunday Mirror says Newcastle will hold talks with Simpson this summer in a bid to stop him joining Birmingham.
Toon boss Alan Pardew is aware that Simpson is among the club's lowest earners so he wants to reward him with a new contract. The 24-year-old's current deal has two years to run from this summer.
Birmingham, however, are very interested in signing him as a replacement for Stephen Carr, 34, who came out of retirement in February 2009.
