Birmingham City are in talks with Middlesbrough over a deal for Stewart Downing.

According to Sky Sports, Blues boss Harry Redknapp is interested in bringing the former Liverpool winger to St. Andrews.

The 32-year old has been told he can leave the club for free, despite their being two years left to run on his contract.

Downing has made 82 appearances for the club since joining from West Ham United in 2015.

The former England international came through the academy ranks at the Teeside club, and amassed more than 200 appearances before moving to Aston Villa in 2009.
