After their Carling Cup victory over Southampton, Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish confirmed a deal is close for Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel.
"I'm working on Michel from Sporting Gijon, and we hope to have some news on that this week," said Eck.
It's understood method of payment for Michel's transfer fee has been holding up the deal.
