Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce hopes to sign Arsenal defender Johan Djourou on a season-long loan.

He has targeted the Swiss defender, 20, after being scared off by Aston Villa's £2.5million valuation of Liam Ridgewell, 23.

Bruce said: "I have not spoken to Arsenal for a while about Djourou but I'll see where we are.

"We are still hopeful something can be done."
