Birmingham battling West Brom for Hibs striker Fletcher

Birmingham City are battling West Brom for Hibs striker Steven Fletcher.

The Daily Express says Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is weighing up a £2million bid for the Hibernian striker following the club's promotion from the Championship.

Fletcher, 22, says he wants a crack at the Premier League.

McLeish gave him his international debut during his time as Scotland boss. And he remains a big admirer of hitman Fletcher, who has been on Celtic's wanted list for the past few seasons.

Fletcher has made it clear he is not interested in leaving Hibs for Parkhead and is willing to consider a move south of the border if the "club is right".

Albion boss Tony Mowbray, a former Hibs manager, knows all about Fletcher and is interested in luring him to The Hawthorns.
