Real Betis have made contact with Shakhtar Donetsk over a fee for Nery Castillo.
The Mexico international is on-loan at Manchester City until the New Year and Betis are aiming to trump the Premiership club to land the midfielder.
Shakhtar are demanding £15 million for Castillo.
