Blackburn Rovers defender Bruno Berner is a doubt for the start of the Premier League season on 11 August.

The Swiss defender suffered a foot injury in his team's pre-season friendly defeat at Huddersfield on Wednesday and will have an X-ray.

"There's a little bit of concern as he has had a metatarsal injury in the past," said manager Mark Hughes.

"But he was able to walk, which was something he couldn't do apparently when he had the problem before."
