Berbatov right to choose Man Utd over Man City - Petrov

Bolton Wanderers winger Martin Petrov says Dimitar Berbatov was right to choose Manchester United over Manchester City.

When City attempted to hijack Berbatov's £30.75million move to Old Trafford following Tottenham's decision to put the Bulgarian striker up for sale in August 2008, they hoped the presence of best friend Petrov at Eastlands would give them the edge.

But Berbatov opted for red ahead of sky blue - and has since lifted the Premier League, Club World Cup and Carling Cup.

Petrov said: "If he had wanted the money I am sure he would have gone to City, but look at what he has achieved with United.

"It depends on what kind of personality you have when you make the kind of decision Dimitar had to make.

"Some players go to City because they have money. It's a decision that depends on a player's personality and in the end Dimitar chose United. I think he is happy with his decision. At this moment he is the best striker in the Premier League."
