Bent delighted to score on Spurs debut

Darren Bent was delighted to score on his Tottenham debut in Saturday's friendly against Stevenage Borough.

"It is always nice to find the net in your first game and get rid of the nerves," Bent told the Spurs website. "If you do go a while without a goal it can be a worry, but I was delighted with the goal and was also bought down for the penalty, so I am happy," he added, before looking back on his cool finish on the run just after the interval.

"Yes, but I missed probably an easier one shortly after. It is a case of blowing away the cobwebs and I am looking forward to the next game.

"It was fantastic to pull on the shirt, I was a bit nervous before the game when we were warming up, but it is all part and parcel of it. I enjoyed the game and getting off the mark makes it special."

Bent was paired up with Robbie Keane in the 3-1 victory and the captain on the day made something of an impression on the new signing.

"Robbie is brilliant and I have known that for a long time. He is just one of the great strikers at the club and that is why I wanted to come here and be part of it."
