Benjani: Portsmouth pal Kanu my inspiration

Benjani Mwaruwari has credited Portsmouth teammate Nwankwo Kanu for his rich scoring form this season.

He said: "This is the best football I have played at Portsmouth. When you have good players around you it is easy for a striker. Playing up front with someone like Kanu has helped me improve.

"He was a hero of mine growing up in Zimbabwe because in Africa he is known as the King. I have learned so much from training and playing alongside him every day. I am starting to settle in England now. The Premier League is the hardest in the world to play in and it is very tough to score.

"Every time I play or train I give it my all and that is working for me.

"My best-ever season was 14 goals for Auxerre and I am aiming to beat that."
