Middlesbrough's record-signing Afonso Alves is being targeted by Portuguese club Benfica.

The Brazilian has failed to make a massive impact at the Riverside and reports have suggested that the players agent met with Benfica officials earlier this week.

Alves has three years left on his current deal but it is believed 'Boro will not stand in his way if they can recoup some of the £12million they spent on him.
