Vancouver Whitecaps goalkeeper Joe Cannon has described the experience of playing with David Beckham as 'crazy'.
The 36-year old spent about half a season with the former Manchester United and England captain at the LA Galaxy in 2007 and admits life on the road with the most famous name in soccer had a certain party atmosphere about it.
"It was crazy. We were flying charter. We went first class to Australia. They'd throw these parties for us everywhere," he told The Province.
"I remember in Toronto, we were at the Supper Club and, I've never seen it before, we had a VIP section roped off for us and guys were just pointing at women, 'She can come up, she can come up.'
"I was flabbergasted. Growing up as a shy kid, I was in awe of the whole thing."
And Cannon also pointed out that at the start of Beckham's LA career, things did begin nervously.
"We were so good but there was just a lot of inner-squabbling between guys that had been in L.A. and guys coming in. It was a tough year," he added.
"The pressure just mounted because the league back-logged our schedule so everyone could see Beckham at the end. There was just a huge pressure about that whole situation. It was a different MLS experience than you'll ever get."
