Red Bull football has announced Dietmar Beiersdorfer as their new sporting director.

The former Hamburg player and athletic director will oversee both Red Bull Salzburg in Austria and the New York Red Bulls in the US.

The 45-year old spent six years as an official with German Bundesliga club Hamburg and will now use his nous in a dual role with both the Austrian Bundesliga and MLS sections of Red Bull football.

His appointment has caused uncertainty surrounding the position of current New York sporting director Jeff Agoos but it remains to be seen what will occur in that situation.
