West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar is prepared to stay and fight for his place.
The Baggies have been linked already with a move for Liverpool's David Ngog and Hamburg's Marcus Berg.
But former Hearts player Bednar is ready for the challenge and to try and convince Di Matteo he should be part of his plans.
Bednar said: "I view Albion being linked with new players positively as usual. If I don't play, I will try my best to get into the starting XI.
"Whoever comes in will be good for the club and we will see how it goes at the time and the gaffer is always fair to everyone.
"If he feels someone is on fire, he will give him a chance and so the onus is on every one of us to work and do well - and he will play us."
