Beckham had English offers before Milan move

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham admitted he was approached by clubs in England before deciding to return to AC Milan on loan in January. The 34-year-old hopes the move will improve his international credentials, with Three Lions boss Fabio Capello stating he will only select players who are playing regular club football.

But while the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is delighted to be returning to Italy, he has confirmed that he was targeted by sides in England before opting for Serie A.

Beckham, who was linked with Tottenham, told Sky Sports News: "There were options there. But I always said that when I left Milan, if I had the chance to go back, I would go back there.

"If they wanted me, I would go back there. That was always my No.1 choice, if I had a choice.

"I am honoured that they want me and I can't wait to go back."

Asked if he had offers from England, Beckham, refusing to name clubs, said: "There was a couple."
