Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni admits he came close to joining AC Milan last summer.

"Last year Milan were really interested in me, but the Della Valle family and myself agreed that I should join Bayern," the former Fiorentina ace told Chi Magazine.

"I have brought luck to lots of Presidents who have trusted me enough to invest in me."

Toni also spoke about trying to lure Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso to Bayern.

"He was the one who asked if I would sign him!' he joked. "Seriously though I knew that there were negotiations and if Bayern asked for my opinion I would happily give it.

"There are other Italians who I would also be happy to see in Munich."
