Bayern Munich coach Nagelsmann: Barcelona midfielder Gavi didn't deserve Kopa Trophy

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann says Barcelona midfielder Gavi didn't deserve the Kopa Trophy.

Gavi was named Young Player of the Year at the Ballon d'Or awards on Monday night.

Nagelsmann was disappointed with the award, saying two Bundesliga players had done more to win it.

“Of course, one has the club glasses on, but usually I also have my own opinion," he said. "I would have voted otherwise. Jamal Musiala (Bayern forward) and Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund midfielder) have had better seasons than the winner. From my point of view, those two are ahead of Gavi."

However, the Bayern coach -- at a press conference ahead of the cup match against Augsburg on Wednesday -- did not want to detract from the Barça midfielder.

"He is a great footballer, with a lot of talent. The award was not undeserved. He has an extremely winning mentality for his age," added the German.
