Germany star Thomas Muller is hoping Bastian Schweinsteiger can return to fitness for this summer's European Championships.
The Manchester United midfielder was struck down by a knee injury at national team training on Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.
As the reigning World Cup champions prepare for Saturday's friendly with England in Berlin, Bayern Munich ace Muller spoke of his eagerness that Die Mannschaft captain Schweinsteiger is back in action ahead of Euro2016.
"It is of course very frustrating for him and for us. He injured himself in the very first training back, which is disappointing," he said.
"There's still a bit of time left until the Euros, but it's hard to say now how long he will need to make a full recovery.
"Anything is possible though, and it's important to have the captain on board this summer.
"He can help us, regardless of whether he plays from the first or third match. You saw that at the World Cup."
