Real Madrid have failed with a bid for Bayer Leverkusen fullback Wendell.

The 21 year-old Brazilian is in his first season in Europe and enjoyed an impressive campaign with Bayer.

Agent Sergio Malucelli told Express: "It is true that we received late interest from Real Madrid, but Bayer Leverkusen have refused to negotiate. Wendell will keep playing in Germany."

Bayer chief Jonas Boldt added: "Real Madrid is not going to take him, he has four years on his contract here."
