BATE Borisov shock Roma in five-goal thriller

Roma were stunned 3-2 by Champions League opponents BATE Borisov.

Filip Mladenović struck twice as BATE Borisov shocked Roma, resisting a second-half comeback from their Group E opponents after scoring three times in the first 30 minutes.

Igor Stasevich hit BATE's opener before Mladenović took over with a quickfire double.

Roma coach Rudi Garcia responded by bringing on Iago Falqué for William Vainqueur before the half was out.

Falqué set up Gervinho to drive under Sergei Chernik midway through the second period and with Roma throwing everything at their hosts, Vasilis Torosidis turned in Lucas Digne's low delivery before Alessandro Florenzi rattled the crossbar.

But BATE held on for a famous win for the Bulgarians.
