Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has signed a four-year deal with QPR this evening.
The 28-year old has decided to sign a deal with the West London club after undergoing a medical during the week.
Barton has been pondering his future and was not sure about a shift from up north, yesterday posting on his Twitter page that he 'needed time and space to think', but he has now joined Neil Warnock's squad and he is excited about arriving at a club who he believes are going places.
"The ambition of the club really impressed me," Barton told the club's official website.
"There's obviously a great set of lads here already and that's why they had such a great season in the Championship.
"The gaffer [Warnock] is talking about adding two or three more bodies and that, combined with the potential of the Club and the new owners' ambitions, bodes really well for the future."
Barton is set to wear the number 17 shirt and will make his debut for his new club on September 12 against his former club Newcastle.
