Barnsley claimed their first win of the season, 2-1 at Reading, despite conceding three second-half penalties. Keeper Luke Steele saved two of the spot kicks to give the Yorkshire outfit their first away win in the league since January 26.
"I am really pleased with our first win. I deserve it and the players deserve it although I know that in the second half Reading could have won it" said Tykes boss Keith Hill.
"I think the win is just reward for the hard work we have put in so I will accept it. We have come a long way to get that result.
"Our goalkeeper deserves a reward for those two penalty saves. I thought two of them were stonewall penalties although I'm not sure about the other. It might turn out to be right though.
"There has been too much pressure heaped on us and there should not be that type of pressure heaped on. The players have supported me throughout though."
"Three penalties should be three goals with the standard of penalty takers we have at this place" said Reading boss Brian McDermott.
"In the first 45 minutes we were hitting the ball too long. We conceded a goal from a set play just as we had done at Portsmouth in midweek and then one ball down the middle has cost us again.
"We had enough chances to win three games today. It could have ended up 5-2 to us.
"We have lost some big players in the summer and I am trying to find a way to get results.
"Our fans expressed some discontent in the second half. That's very unusual but results are all important and I can understand it."
