Barnsley boss Mark Robins is working on extending the loan of Birmingham City striker Garry O'Connor.
The 27-year-old striker is due to play the final game of his current stint against Sheffield United on Saturday but Robins wants to keep him at Oakwell for a third spell.
"He has worked hard and has done very well for us. We remain hopeful that something can be done," Robins told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"I've been talking to Garry and his representative. We will see what happens after this loan period."
