Barcelona whiz Lamine Yamal on Xavi: Not many coaches would give a 15yo his debut

Barcelona whiz Lamine Yamal has paid tribute to coach Xavi.

Yamal says he's grateful to Xavi for giving him his debut last season.

He told UEFA: "For all youth football children it is their dream to reach the first team. Many coaches have given me confidence but it is not the same when you are 12 years old as when you are 15 and you make your debut at the Camp Nou.

"I will always tell him thank you because not everyone would have given me the opportunity to debut at the age of 15 and this season he is giving me minutes in every game.

"He told me to enjoy it, to do the same thing as in training. When I entered the field my ears were blocked, I couldn't hear anything. In my mind it was like a minute, but my legs were like an hour, they ended up very tired."

On a year on from the debut, Yamal added: "When I debuted I was like a child and now I have more trust in my teammates, they take me more into account. A relationship of respect. You have to know how to measure and now I can. I like jokes, making them and having them made to me and we are making jokes."
