Barcelona are seeking a new signing to give them a boost in a similar fashion to iconic footballing legend Edgar Davids.

The Catalans have spent a lot of money in the summer, securing the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.

However, they are still second in La Liga, and are close to exiting the Champions League in the group stages.

Per Mundo Deportivo, Barca want to add a quality midfielder, similar to how Davids transformed their season in 2004 during a six-month loan spell from January.

One player who they do admire is Ruben Neves of Wolves, whose agent Jorge Mendes has offered him to Barca in the past.

Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans is another possibility, although he may be similar in profile to their other midfielders.
