Barcelona ace Lionel Messi has paid tribute to Pablo Aimar.

The former Valencia star has announced his retirement this week.

Messi admits he idolised Aimar when growing up and posted on social media:

"A great player is retiring, one of my idols. Pablo Aimar, I wish you all the best in your new stage in life. Thank you for all the magic that we enjoyed so much."
