Gremio midfielder Arthur Melo admits Real Madrid did attempt to sign him earlier this season.

Gremio and Barcelona have settled on a fee for Arthur, which can be triggered by July.

Arthur revealed: "It was a decision we made between my family and I. I always wanted to play with them, even before being professional. Whenever I watch them play, my eyes fill up."

Asked about Real's interested, he added: "Without saying too much, my representative did have some unofficial contact. But no offer came officially."

PSG star Neymar did have a say in Arthur's decision, as he explained: "He told me very good things about the city and the club. He told me that if my option was to choose Barcelona, I would be doing well."
