Barcelona pull back from deal for Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez

Barcelona have pulled back from a move for Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez.

Marca says Martinez looked destined to join Barcelona this summer, but the €32 million asking price has turned the Catalans off the transfer, despite having €222m to spend after Neymar's departure.

The player was willing to move to the Camp Nou and was thought to have agreed terms, but the clubs have failed to reach an agreement that suits both parties, leading to Barcelona withdrawing from negotiations.

Despite being keen on his talents, the Catalans were not willing to part with the 32m demanded by the Basque side.

Ernesto Valverde specifically requested Martinez's arrival, but will now have to identify new targets.
