Barcelona midfielder Matheus Fernandes mixed emotions over Real Valladolid debut

Barcelona midfielder Matheus Fernandes admits he has mixed emotions making his debut with Real Valladolid.

Fernandes joined Valladolid on-loan in January, but didn't make his LaLiga debut until the restart this month.

He said, "It was strange. We dream of playing in Europe with a full stadium, but I will always remember that my debut was in an empty stadium and with the noise of artificial fans.

"The experience of playing at the Wanda Metropolitano was fantastic. A place with so much history, but it would be more beautiful with the audience present."

About next season, Matheus continued: "It will be Barcelona who will decide. The agreement is to present myself to the club for the next season at the end of this season. But, a place for a foreigner needs to be vacant. The desire, of course, is to play for Barcelona and be ready, but I must be patient and respect Valladolid, who received me very well.

"My mind is now 100% in Valladolid because football is very constant. You cannot make plans. At the moment, my goal is playing as many games and minutes as possible to gain experience. I tell my parents that I have to be as patient like when Barcelona came to me the first time. I'm training hard and I'll let things happen naturally."
