Barcelona midfielder De Jong: Almeria defeat unexpected

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong admits defeat at Almeria wasn't good enough.

El Bilal Toure proved the matchwinner for Almeria on the day.

"We are really disappointed," De Jong told Movistar. "We had the chance to go 10 clear. Now it's still seven but we did not expect to lose this game.

"They were really good defensively. We crossed a lot, especially second half, but they defended well. We have to attack better and create more danger."

De Jong denied Barça had Thursday's trip to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal in mind.

"We have not thought about the Clasico," he insisted. "LaLiga is very important and the next game is always the most important. Things did not come off, especially in the first half. Now we have to keep going and work hard to improve."

Asked what lesson Barça can take from the defeat, he added: "We always have to be really focused and on top of our game. When we don't start well and they score, it is hard to get back in the game and that's been the case today."
