Barcelona make calls on fullback pair Alonso and Bellerin

Barcelona have plans to keep hold of Marcos Alonso and Hector Bellerin.

Marca says word from the club is that Alonso has been notified that he will get a new deal, which is what he wants.

Xavi is said to be happy with the news too, as the veteran left-back has even been deployed as a central defender at times.

Alonso, who arrived on a free transfer, will soon sit down with Barcelona to renegotiate his deal.

What isn't clear is whether he will sign for two more seasons or if he will sign for one plus an option.

The veteran defender, who turns 32 this Wednesday, has played in 12 games between LaLiga Santander and the Champions League.

Although there were those at the Catalan club who expected Bellerin to leave in January, Xavi has decided that he will remain until June, when his contract expires.

The right-back also wants to stay at the Camp Nou despite the fact teams have shown interest in his services.

The defender has played in five matches, three in LaLiga Santander and two in the Champions League.
