The Daily Star says Barcelona offered Gomes as part of a deal for Coutinho in the summer.

The Catalan giants were desperate to snap up Coutinho but Liverpool stood firm.

As many as three bids were made for the Brazilian, including a player-plus-cash offer.

And the player in question was Gomes, although the deal was also rejected.
