Barcelona hero Rivaldo is sorry to see Luis Suarez departing the Nou Camp.

After passing his Italian exam yesterday, Suarez is a step closer to securing an EU passport and so clearing the way to signing with Juventus.

Rivaldo wrote for Betfair: “Juve's case with Luis Suarez has not come to an end because the Uruguayan does not want to lose the last year of his contract with Barcelona.

"He has the right to stay at the club, even after receiving the message from the new manager that he will not be on the squad. He is greatly appreciated by the supporters for everything he has done for the club.

"He is still a great player and the third highest scorer in club history. I still think Barcelona were wrong to try to let him go."
