Barcelona have handed Philippe Coutinho the treasured No7 shirt for the new season.

When Barcelona signed Coutinho, they handed him the squad number vacated by Javier Mascherano.

With the No14 on his back, the club could refer to Johan Cruyff's time at the Camp Nou but there was a more significant reason for the move.

Barcelona were just starting their talks with Antoine Griezmann's camp over a summer move from Atletico Madrid at that time, and the striker's preference for No7 meant the club saved it for him.

But Griezmann choosing to stay in Madrid, Barca have now handed the No7 to Coutinho.
