Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen disappointed with Germany back-up role

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has admitted some disappointment not being Germany's World Cup starter.

Ter Stegen was set to be Germany's starting goalkeeper in the 2018 World Cup; however, Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer has recovered just in time to snatch the spot.

Ter Stegen has shined at Barcelona in the past two seasons, but it seems like that was not enough for Die Mannschaft.

"I will try to be a help for Manuel [Neuer]", Ter Stegen admitted to reporters.

"When you have played all season and have always maintained the highest level, it is a disappointing situation."
