Barcelona defender Gerard Pique insists it was his decision to pull out of a television interview this week.

It was reported that Pique had been told to drop the interview by new Barca coach Xavi.

But he said on Ibai Llanos' Twitch stream: “People have their say because the media says what they want people to hear. If they knew the story of what has come out of El Hormiguero ... Xavi does not even know that I have canceled the El Hormiguero.

"People in the end consume, the problem is those who invent. That's the problem. I had to explain to him - to Xavi - what El Hormiguero was about, he didn't even know what I was talking about.

"I had to explain that it is true, that I canceled the interview, but I canceled it because I wanted to cancel it, because in the end there are rules that Xavi has set and that if you want to travel you had to tell him and comment on it and in the end I preferred not to comment on it and cancel the interview because I didn't feel like having to ask him for permission, and that's it."
