Barcelona coach Xavi is reluctant to see Memphis Depay sold this month.

Now inside the final six months of his current deal, the Holland striker has been linked with a move away - including to former club Manchester United.

However, Xavi wants to hang onto Depay with the prospect of being able to buy in January slim due to Barca's financial problems.

For his part, Depay favours leaving Barca - unless Xavi can give him playing guarantees.

The striker is well down the pecking order at Barca, with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres rated ahead of him.
