Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has welcomed the imminent arrival of Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Chilean is being seen by many as a replacement for Paulinho.

"He looks like a warrior," Valverde said.

"We hope he will give us energy in the midfield, he has proven experience and quality, and he's a different profile, similar to Paulinho.

"Last year there were people who criticised Paulinho's signing without seeing him for a minute, and then saw that there is room for many types of players in this team.

"It's true that there are some who set the style and others who enrich it when they arrive, Abidal was an example of that, as he arrived with a different style and adapted.

"It's about enriching the style, not considering something as bad because it deviates one millimetre from the club's DNA."
