Barcelona sports chief Eric Abidal is being linked with Lyon.

RMC says Lyon are interested in hiring him as their new technical director.

Lyon have been working in a new direction since last summer when Juninho Pernambucano was appointed as the club's sporting director, and this hire would be very much appreciated by the Brazilian.

The pair were teammates at Lyon, but Abidal would only consider an offer to leave Barcelona if it was concrete, which it isn't at present.

Lyon are looking to hire Abidal instead of Florian Maurice, the previous favourite for the position, although there is also interest in Bruno Cheyrou, Loic Desire and Paul Mitchell.
