Barcelona attacker Fermin Lopez: Given our problems - where'd we be without La Masia?

Barcelona attacker Fermin Lopez has hailed the impact of fellow youngster Pau Cubarsi.

Like Fermin, Cubarsi has made his debut this season and become a key player under coach Xavi.

He told Sport: "He's incredible, we already see him in training, but then in the matches against attackers, how he plays... It's admirable, I'm very happy. Stopping strikers like Muriqi, Larín or Osimhen at 17 isn't normal? At La Masia they do a good job and what they're trying to do is bring as many people as possible into the first team. They prepare us quite well and then it's a matter of getting there and doing well, which is what Pau is doing.

"The truth is that La Masia is like your second home, your second family. There are many good moments as well as bad ones and we all work together hence that camaraderie that you will see later. Can you understand each other just with a look? Can be. Since almost all of us met as children, we played the same games and it may be that in the first team it is noticed that we know each other.

"If La Masia didn't exist, would the problem be very big now? The club is in a more difficult moment and needs to focus more on young people and I think we are trying to be up to the challenge because playing for Barça is difficult, but there is a group of young people who I think can stay in the first team for many years.'
