Backe proud of NYRB side after big win without Henry

New York Red Bulls head coach Hans Backe was delighted to see his side pull off a big 1-0 win at LA Galaxy on the weekend without star striker Thierry Henry.

Joel Lindpere's 19th-minute goal was the difference as the Red Bulls moved back to third on the Eastern Conference table and the performance of the players, especially the defence, was not lost on Backe.

"Yes, it is phenomenal, the way they worked today," he said.

"It's such an un-experienced back four, I think they have 20 games together, and it is their second clean sheet."

And Backe is confident the side can continue to play well while ex-Arsenal ace Henry is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

"It will be tougher for us of course with him out for 3-4 weeks, we are going to miss his goals and assists," admitted.

"But I still think (Juan) Agudelo can be good for 20-25 minutes every game and we will get him in until Thierry is back."
