Ayoze Perez has welcomed Miguel Almiron to Newcastle United.

While Almiron has been bought as a No 10, the Paraguayan can play on either flank and as a second-striker, so Perez hopes that he can feature in the same starting side as Newcastle's newest arrival.

"It has to be a positive. It is great to have him," Perez told the Evening Chronicle.

"We are quite similar. It is good to have another option for the attacking. Injuries can be bad, but we have everyone involved trying to help the team.

"The more competition we have, the better we can be. It is good to have the new signings. It was good timing because having this training camp they [Almiron and Antonio Barreca] can be more comfortable.

"With every team-mate it is about making them feel at home. There are just three months left and we are going to need them to help us. We have to look after them."
